Australian Visa Fees 2026–2027 – Updated Visa Pricing Table from 1 July 2026
The Australian Government has updated visa application charges for the 2026–2027 financial year. These new visa fees apply from 1 July 2026 and affect many common Australian visa pathways, including skilled visas, employer-sponsored visas, partner visas, parent visas, student visas, visitor visas, working holiday visas and business visas.
For applicants and employers, the increase in visa fees means it is more important than ever to plan your visa strategy early and understand the full cost of lodging an application.
At Better Life Migration, we assist individuals, families and businesses with strategic visa advice, skills assessments, employer sponsorship, nomination applications and decision-ready visa lodgements.
Important note about Australian visa fees
The visa application charge is only one part of the total cost of applying for an Australian visa.
Depending on the visa subclass, applicants may also need to budget for:
-
- skills assessment fees;
-
- English language test fees;
-
- health examinations;
-
- police clearances;
-
- biometrics;
-
- translations;
-
- state or territory nomination fees;
-
- sponsorship and nomination fees;
-
- Skilling Australians Fund levy;
-
- second instalment charges;
-
- professional migration advice fees.
The fees below are based on the updated 2026–2027 visa pricing information. However, the exact amount payable can vary depending on the visa stream, applicant location, number of family members, age of secondary applicants and whether any additional charges apply.

Skilled visa fees from 1 July 2026
The main skilled visa subclasses have increased for the 2026–2027 financial year. The primary applicant charge for the Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189, Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 and Skilled Regional Provisional Visa Subclass 491 is now AUD 6,135.
This means a skilled visa application for a family can become a significant investment once secondary applicants are included.
For example, a skilled visa applicant may also need to pay for:
-
- skills assessment;
- English language test;
- state or territory nomination;
- medical examinations;
- police clearances;
- document translations.
Applicants should review their occupation, points score, English results, skills assessment and state nomination strategy before lodging an Expression of Interest.
Employer sponsored visa fees from 1 July 2026
Employer sponsored visas can involve several different charges, including sponsorship, nomination, SAF levy and visa application charges.
The Skills in Demand Visa Subclass 482 primary applicant charge is now AUD 4,015. The secondary applicant charge for an applicant aged 18 or over is also AUD 4,015, while the charge for a dependent child under 18 is AUD 1,005.
The Employer Nomination Scheme Visa Subclass 186 primary applicant charge is now AUD 6,140. The secondary applicant charge for an applicant aged 18 or over is AUD 3,070, and the charge for a dependent child under 18 is AUD 1,535.
Employers should also budget for the relevant nomination charge and the Skilling Australians Fund levy.
For the Subclass 482 visa, the SAF levy is generally:
-
- AUD 1,200 per year for businesses with turnover under AUD 10 million; or
- AUD 1,800 per year for businesses with turnover over AUD 10 million.
For the Subclass 186 visa, the SAF levy is generally:
-
- AUD 1,200 for businesses with turnover under AUD 10 million; or
- AUD 1,800 for businesses with turnover over AUD 10 million.
For the Subclass 494 visa, the SAF levy is generally:
-
- AUD 3,000 for businesses with turnover under AUD 10 million; or
- AUD 5,000 for businesses with turnover over AUD 10 million.
Partner and prospective marriage visa fees
Partner visa charges remain among the highest Australian visa application charges.
From 1 July 2026, the primary applicant charge for a Partner Visa Subclass 820 / 309 is AUD 11,710. The same primary applicant charge applies to the Prospective Marriage Visa Subclass 300.
Given the high visa application charge, it is important to prepare the application carefully before lodgement.
Parent and family visa fees
Parent and family visa fees have also increased.
The Parent Visa Subclass 103 and Aged Parent Visa Subclass 804 now have a primary applicant charge of AUD 6,600.
Contributory parent visas may also involve a significant second instalment. Based on the updated fee table, the second instalment may be up to AUD 43,600 for certain contributory parent visa categories.
The Sponsored Parent Temporary Visa Subclass 870 has the following charges:
-
- sponsorship charge: AUD 420;
- 3-year visa: AUD 6,370;
- 5-year visa: AUD 12,440.
Families should obtain advice before lodging a parent visa application, as processing times, eligibility requirements, balance of family requirements, sponsorship requirements and costs can vary significantly between subclasses.
Student and graduate visa fees
The Student Visa Subclass 500 primary applicant charge is now AUD 2,500. The secondary applicant charge for an applicant aged 18 or over is AUD 1,530, and the charge for a dependent child under 18 is AUD 500.
The Temporary Graduate Visa Subclass 485 has increased to AUD 5,750 for the primary applicant. The secondary applicant charge is AUD 2,875 for an applicant aged 18 or over and AUD 1,450 for a dependent child under 18.
Students and graduates should carefully plan their pathway, as study choices, English scores, skills assessments, work experience and location can affect future skilled visa and employer sponsored visa options.
Visitor visa fees
The Visitor Visa Subclass 600 fee is now:
-
- AUD 250 for offshore applications; and
- AUD 630 for onshore applications.
Visitor visa applicants should ensure they provide strong evidence of genuine temporary stay, financial capacity, reasons for travel and ties to their home country.
Working holiday visa fees
The Working Holiday Visa Subclass 417 and Work and Holiday Visa Subclass 462 now have a primary applicant charge of AUD 840.
Applicants should check age limits, country-specific requirements, health and character requirements, and any work or study limitations before applying.
Why planning ahead is important
Visa fee increases can have a significant impact, especially for families and employer sponsored applicants. In many cases, applicants need to budget not only for the visa application charge but also for supporting costs such as skills assessments, English tests, police checks, medicals and translations.
A small mistake in timing, eligibility or evidence can be expensive. Before lodging, applicants should make sure they understand:
-
- which visa pathway is most suitable;
- whether they meet the eligibility requirements;
- whether their documents are complete and consistent;
- how much the total application may cost;
- whether family members can be included;
- whether any second instalment or levy applies;
- whether timing could affect their visa outcome.
