About the 191 Visa
The 191 Visa Regional Provisional Stream allows people who have lived and worked in a designated regional area of Australia on an eligible visa to live and work in Australian permanently. Eligible visa requirements are met if the applicant has held a 491 or 494 Visa for at least three years before the application is lodged.
Additionally, eligible family members can be included in the application. If eligible, you can become an Australian citizen before the visa validity period of 5 years expires.
Who can apply for the 191 Visa?
For applicants:
- You must hold an eligible visa (Subclass 491 or Subclass 494 Visa) for at least 3 years, and complied with the conditions of that visa.
- You must provide notices of assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for three income years out of the five years of your eligible visa.
- You must have complied with the condition of the regional provisional visa you hold or have held.
- You must meet health and character requirements.
